Housed in a 6000 square foot classic Art Deco Vaudevillian theater called “The Weed Palace”, Studio A at RadioStar offers a unique experience for professional musicians. The theater was built in the 1920’s, with 30-foot high ceilings, acoustically treated walls and a 750 square foot stage.
RadioStar’s 50-channel Neve 8038 console and vintage outboard gear are installed into the main theater room, utilizing the entire space for recording. The classic Neve, nicknamed “The Bully”, features 1073 mic/line EQ modules and Flying Fader automation.
RadioStar’s Studio A is designed for open-room recording: where the console is set-up in the same room that the musicians play in, for completely unconventional album recording!
STUDIO A also Features:
Hammond C-3 organ w/ Leslie speaker
Wurlitzer 7-ft grand piano
“With zero separation between equipment & recording space, there is a necessary, direct and immediate communication between the musician & producer.”
“Tap into the raw energy of LIVE performance by recording on one of the only stages created specifically for the recording of LIVE sound!”
In what was formerly the balcony of the old Weed Palace Theater is RadioStar’s magnificent Studio B. Located above the main stage, you will find the horseshoe shaped Solid State Logic J-9080 console, known as the ‘Boomerang.” Known to be one of only four like it in the world, the SSL J-9080 encompasses 80 inputs & moving fader automation.
Although used mainly as a mixing room, RadioStar’s Studio B also has a generous vocal booth as well as a 13’x20’ tracking room with 8 foot high ceilings located in the theater’s old projection booth. Designed for maximum versatility, the front panels of the walls can be removed to reveal the main stage of the Weed Palace Theater, turning Studio B into a control room and observation deck for the main stage.
The most private of the studios at RadioStar, the Studio D control room is home to “Nigel”, a classic Trident 80-Series console. Studio D is a favorite for overdubs and vocal recording. Studio D’s main tracking room is 10’x25’ with 10’ high ceilings, with an 8’x6’ booth for vocals and overdubs. The control room is a large and comfortable space to really dig into your project.
